CLUB HOPPIN’
Let me start by saying this: I’m a fan of clubs.
Not so much the kind that with bottle service and dancing on tables, though I can't necessarily be trusted late at night when Pitbull comes on. But I’m talking about clubs of a sandier nature. I’m talking about beach clubs.
Beach clubs, to me, are the BEST way to experience a coastal destination. You can often get all the amenities of a oceanside hotel, just minus the bedroom. Our favorite thing to do when we travel (assuming there is a beach in the general area and the weather is, in general, warm), is find a few local beach clubs and post up at a different one each day.
You can arrive early and secure a chair near the water, then enjoy lunch and drinks throughout the day at their restaurant. Oftentimes, servers will come down to wherever you’ve posted up, but because these are usually small and include a little strip of their own private sand, you can just as easily walk up to the bar or restroom.
This is also the perfect way to enjoy a coastal town or island if you rent a house or choose a hotel that isn’t on the water. And if you can’t convince your husband to give you a shoulder rub, despite how often you do it for him, they’ll sometimes do that too!
Is there always a daily fee to get in? Of course. But, the ability to feel like really be a tourist, while still feeling like a local is absolutely worth it, regardless of whether shoulder rubs are on the menu.
